Creating Your Itinerary

Where to visit?

I’ve been visiting China for over 20 years and there is still more to see.

From beaches to big cities, rural, historical and ancient cities to modern skyscrapers,  street food to five star restaurants, from small shops to the grandest malls you’ve ever seen,  China has it all!

Single travel and group tours are easy to do as China is very safe.

So how to plan your trip?

Allow at least three days in each city…  A day or two is just too rushed.   Allow a day for transit between cities… to allow for rest.   .   China is a big country…  Trains are likely easier than air travel.

Here is a guide to building your prompt:

“I am visiting China for X days in [month or season].  I like [ historical sites, food, shopping, hiking, temples,  culture, nightlife, off the beaten path sites ….] I want to see [Forbidden City, Terracotta Warriors, Ancient towns, Nature, Hiking….]    What cities should I visit and what are the top 15 attractions in each of cities? “

Chatgpt is quite good at creating a list of places to see.  Also ask Chatgpt to suggest Day Trips from each city.

Dates to avoid travel in China

  • Chinese New Year – changes each year.  google China holidays [year[ for exact dates.   Trains and planes are full. Many shops closed.
  • Labor Day – First week of May – trains and planes and hotels fully booked.   Tourist sites overcrowded.
  • National Day Festival – Last few days of September and first week of October.  Tourist places are jam packed, trains and plains and hotels are full.
